The Center for Family Safety and Healing

About

How They Help

How does your organization help the community?

The Center for Family Safety and Healing helps members of the community who have been affected by family violence. The Center helps those affected see that there is hope for healing.

Program Descriptions

Child Assessment Center (CAC)
The Child Assessment Center (CAC) provides responsive and timely medical assessment and treatment; along with interviews of children and family members who may have experienced child abuse, neglect, or exposure to violence. Children and adolescents are seen for comprehensive evaluations of alleged abuse or neglect. The clinic uses a multidisciplinary approach, which includes medicine, social work, law enforcement, and child protective services and minimizes the child’s need to repeatedly tell his/her story of abuse.

Fostering Connections Program
The Fostering Connections Program is a specialized care clinic that offers comprehensive healthcare services to children and adolescents placed in foster or out-of-home care. The clinic serves as a medical home for these patients by providing initial assessments following placement, well-child or sick-child visits, and care coordination.

Family Support Program
The Family Support Program (FSP) offers counseling for children and adolescents who have been sexually or physically abused or who have been exposed to family violence. Our clinicians have been trained to use treatment methods that have been effective in treating and reducing trauma and improving daily living. We offer outpatient treatment with counseling at The Center for Family Safety and Healing and treatment in family homes.

Adult Services Program
We offer counseling and related supportive and advocacy services for adult victims of domestic violence. Victims of domestic violence may experience many emotions, such as depression, anxiety, shame, hopelessness, and fear. Counselors can assist these individuals develop strategies to manage their thoughts and feelings and develop a plan for a safer, happier, and more hopeful life.

Community Trainings

The Center for Family Safety and Healing offers community training for schools, universities, healthcare organizations, businesses, faith communities, the legal system, and community organizations. By educating these organizations, TCFSH strives to break the cycle of family violence and empower community members to take action against this issue.

Prenatal and Home Visitation Services
Our maternal/infant home visiting programs provide expectant and new parents and caregivers with the information, support, and encouragement they need through a voluntary, high-quality home visiting service. TCFSH is fortunate to provide two nationally recognized evidence-based models of home visiting in our community, Healthy Families America (HFA) and Nurse- Family Partnership (NFP).

Where’s The Line?
Where’s The Line? is a first-of-its-kind bystander campaign. A bystander is anyone who might witness abuse, but isn’t directly involved in it. It’s a resource line, available 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, where people can call, text, or chat if they have questions or concerns about abuse. This campaign is designed to educate our community about how to recognize signs of violence and abuse, how to respond appropriately, and then refer to appropriate resources, if necessary.

When someone reaches out, they will be connected with the Information Coordinator. All calls, texts, and chats are completely anonymous. People can expect to receive confidential answers and advice on a variety of topics, and to be connected to local or national resources. Learn more at www.WheresTheLine.info.
